Achievement in the world, however great, does not seem to give a complete sense of satisfaction. Perhaps the greatest human need is for transformation.
In manipulating matter to transform it into gold, alchemists discovered processes which they believed applied equally to the search for human transformation. Humans, they believed, could intervene in the operation of nature and accelerate the process. The secret was to provide heat, which we know in physics is a form of energy.
Now we must find a way of becoming instruments of the Holy Spirit and healing our fellow men. We are going to practise healing with the use of the Holy Spirit at a distance so that we're not using any instrument, the hands, or the eyes, or the breath. Thoughts or the thought-forms or the thought-waves will act as the instruments, but even they have to be purified. We will have to go through an inner process to become pure instruments for the divine power of healing. First, we must overcome our sense of our person, our personal image, and also the image of the environment. The best way of doing that is to remember that one is a visitor on the planet Earth and that the body is just a formation of the substance of the planet and our minds are just formations and our emotions seem to be constantly building up and changing. There's a thunderstorm and then there's a peaceful state and then the wind blows up from the north and it's cold and then there's lightning and then there's rain.
We are awakening faculties that we do not generally use, in body, mind, emotion and soul. The human being has lost certain faculties in order to develop others. For example, some animals have the faculty of hibernation which most humans have lost, but rishis (holy men) in the Himalayas use it to attain samadhi. The secret for awakening is to remember that the configuration of the cells of our body is governed by the magnetic field, and that is why it is so important to shift one's identity so that one is able to start discovering one's magnetic field, one's light field and one's mental or causal field. We need to understand the impact of the field upon the body and equally that of the body upon the magnetic field.
The human healing power remains paradoxical and intriguing. All creatures of nature are endowed with prodigious powers of recuperation to promote survival. Many of these appear to have been lost in the course of the evolutionary process. In fact they have been replaced by more sophisticated ones. The integrity of an atom is safeguarded by rigorous rules. Electrons will restructure themselves in clearly defined patterns to survive collisions. Certain plants learn how to survive in hostile environments. Lizards are able to regenerate an amputated tail or leg.
For many years already, Kirlian photography has revealed phenomena commonly ascribed to the aura by subjecting the object under observation to a high voltage field. As the electrons of biological matter get excited, they jump out of their previous orbital and start sparkling as they get converted – one might say, transfigured – for a split second into photons. Even more interesting, Semyon Kirlian and his wife observed the difference in this 'cold emission of electrons' between a healer socializing and one healing or preparing to heal, thus illustrating the effect of mind over body, which is the very paradigm of healing.
Imagine that you are exposed to a bright light and adjust your whole attunement so as to be receptive to light and enjoy the feeling of being flooded with light, then begin to realize that this makes you become conscious that you are a being of Light.
The next stage consists of becoming aware of one's own light rather than passively accepting a light cast upon you and that is the moment of breakthrough when you become conscious that you are the light. This starts by being conscious of one's aura and you will find this particularly so if you concentrate on the heart centre because the heart centre is the centre of the aura.
From time immemorial people have been interrogating their dreams in excursions into the far reaches of the mind. Should we venture beyond the wall of mystery we find ourselves confused and often shattered by the profusion of bounty flooding the skylight of our mind. The human mind is in its developmental stage and still has a long way to go until it grasps the thinking of the universe, which is however enfolded in it.
Each plexus of the autonomic system (the physical counterparts of what the Yogis call the chakras) is connected with a particular endocrine gland. By concentrating intentionally, intensely and methodically on a particular chakra, one will spark the secretion of the corresponding hormones in the body. These highly specialized chemical 'magical wands' of the body have specific effects upon body functions, mind patterns, and particularly upon the realm of emotional attunement. Endocrinology is one of the least explored areas of physiology, or rather psycho-physiology. However, the experiential research of Yogis on the effect of concentrating upon certain chakras in the course of meditation gives us invaluable clues which may then be researched further with modern scientific techniques.
The physical world is not at all the way it appears, and cannot be reduced to those phenomena that can be analysed or measured in a laboratory. One might say that we exist at several levels, and normally we are using only very few of our faculties. If you want to heal, you have to call into action faculties which are not usually used, like a muscle of the body that has not been used for a long time. The Tibetan Buddhists say 'The body is a wonderful instrument in order to foster awakening'. I would add that the body is a wonderful instrument in which to foster those forces which will help a person to heal.
